Srinagar, Jan 21: Army on Tuesday paid tributes to a soldier who was martyred in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore sub district. A soldier Swr Pangala Kartheek was martyred in an encounter, the first of the year in Kashmir, which erupted on Sunday evening when joint forces launched an operation in the Zaloora, Gujjarpati area of Sopore. During the operation, a terrorist hideout was uncovered. Army said a wreath-laying ceremony was organised by the army at the headquarter of Srinagar based Chinar Corps. The General Officer Commanding Chinar Corps and other officers and police officials laid wreaths and paid tribute to the soldier. “GOC, Chinar Corps, Div Commissioner Kashmir Zone, IGP Kashmir Zone, JKP, alongwith CRPF & BSF officials paid homage to Swr Pangala Kartheek, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Sopore, Baramulla on 20 Jan 2025. Chinar Warriors salute the valour and sacrifice of the Braveheart. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved family & are committed to their well-being,” Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on X. |
