| GDC Ramgarh hosts Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment | | | Early Times Report
RAMGARH, Jan 23: The Women Development Cell and CASH of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramgarh organized an awareness programme on "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace." Held under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the event aimed to empower women by educating them about their legal rights and the mechanisms in place to prevent and address workplace sexual harassment.
The programme, coordinated by Dr. Snobar, featured Advocate Mehrukh Syedan as the resource person. A distinguished legal expert, she delivered an insightful lecture covering the provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, and its origins in the landmark Vishaka Guidelines issued by the Supreme Court in 1997.
Advocate Syedan explained the significance of the Internal Complaint Cell (ICC) and Local Complaint Cell (LCC), highlighting their roles in addressing sexual harassment cases within institutions and communities. She also provided clarity on distinguishing between welcomed and unwelcome workplace behavior, fostering a better understanding of the issue.
The session concluded with an emphasis on collective responsibility and the need for heightened awareness to create a safer, more inclusive working environment for women.
