Amid massive controversy, JKSSB starts ‘verification’ of JKP telecom exams

Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 23: Amid an aggressive campaign in social media regarding alleged bungling and discrepancies in the recently conducted examination of the Constable Telecommunication in Jammu and Kashmir Police, the J&K Service Selection Recruitment Board (JKSSRB) has started verification as per the protocol.
“As per the protocol, we have started verification of the written tests, taking cognizance of the social media reports”, Indu Kanwal Chib, chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) said. She, however, made it clear that verification is a routine process as there is no substantiated proof of bungling or discrepancies in the JKP Constable Telecommunication examination.
Serious concerns have been raised by aspirants of the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exams regarding alleged irregularities in the selection process conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB). The aspirants have questioned the transparency of the process, alleging discrepancies in the results.
According to the aspirants, several candidates who excelled in the Telecommunication and Photography exams had performed poorly in previous JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) examinations. They claim that some aspirants were unfairly awarded marks, raising doubts about the fairness of the process.
The issue gained political traction after PDP leader Iltija Mufti criticized the JKSSB, accusing it of compromising the future of J&K’s youth. In a strongly worded statement on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Mufti alleged “massive discrepancies” in the examination results.

The government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed their hands off any accountability”, Iltija posted on her social media handle.
Mufti’s remarks drew sharp criticism from the National Conference (NC) spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, who accused her of creating unnecessary controversies. Dar suggested that rather than making “half-baked statements” in the media, the PDP leader should have addressed the issue directly with the Lieutenant Governor (LG).
“Before criticizing the government, her party should understand the context. Rather than creating unnecessary controversies, it would have been better if she had addressed this matter to the LG before blurting out a half-baked statement to the media,” Dar said.
In a scathing response, Dar also alleged that the PDP was the “mother of all scams,” referring to alleged irregularities during its tenure in coalition with the BJP.
The allegations of irregularities in the JKP recruitment process have reignited debates on accountability and transparency within the JKSSB. Aspirants are demanding a thorough investigation into the examination process to ensure fairness and justice.
As the controversy continues, the focus now shifts to the administration and the JKSSB to address the concerns raised by the aspirants and take necessary steps to restore public confidence in the recruitment process.
