| Jammu police continues strict action against traffic rules violators | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 23: Continuing with the work of controlling traffic violations specially the use of tinted glasses against the Hon'ble Supreme Court's directions and rogue behaviour on roads in South Jammu, another snap traffic nakas were placed today in Gandhinagar and Narwal Transport Yard Area.
A total of 32 challans were issued and 15 vehicles were seized in South Zone.
Besides, 10 long parked/junk vehicles lifted from transport yard area, Narwal. These vehicles, besides blocking traffic and encroaching public space were posing potential threat from security point of view as the place has history of terrorist initiated IED blast, as happened in January 2023.
The operation was conducted with a five-fold objective:
* Enforcement of the Supreme Court's verdict on tinted glasses: Vehicles with excessively tinted windows were strictly dealt with.
* Enhanced security measures ahead of Republic Day: The naka aimed to bolster security checks in light of the upcoming national celebration.
* General traffic rule enforcement: The operation focused on checking for violations of traffic regulations.
* Deterrence of traffic offenses: The visible presence of the naka served as a strong deterrent to traffic rule violations.
*Drive against signs promoting gun culture in society: found on two and four-wheelers, which were removed and seized in extreme cases.
The JKP personnel led by SP South, SDPO South, SDPO East, SHOs in a co-ordinated, professional and planned manner conducted thorough checks on all vehicles passing through the naka. All types of vehicles including matadors, buses, cars, Auto ricksha and two-wheelers were checked and suitable action was taken against different violations.
Vehicles found to be in violation of Motor Vehicle Acy or Rules were either challaned or impounded.
The general public and netizens have widely appreciated the surprise naka and drive against vehicle law violations conducted. |
