JKGPA delegation meets Health Minister, raises key demands for pharmacists | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 30: A deputation of the Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacists Association (JKGPA), led by President Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, along with JKMEF President Sushil Sudan and JKGPA Kashmir Province Chairman Sheikh Merajudin, met Hon'ble Health Minister Miss Sakina Itoo to submit a memorandum of demands concerning government pharmacists. Key demands included: Change of Nomenclature - Pharmacists should be designated as Pharmacy Officers, as done in several other states. Creation of Technical Officer Pharmacy Posts - A post should be established in all District and Sub-District Hospitals, following the precedent set by GMC Jammu. Filling of Vacant Posts - Many pharmacist positions remain unfilled, causing operational challenges in healthcare institutions. Education Regulation - Diploma and degree pharmacy programs should be regulated by the Jammu Kashmir Pharmacy Council instead of the Paramedical Council. Post Creation - New posts such as Block Pharmacy Officer, District Pharmacy Officer, Senior Pharmacist, and increased Junior Pharmacist positions should be established at PHC, CHC, SDH, and District Hospitals. Restoration of RMP Registration - Retired pharmacists should be allowed RMP registration, which has been discontinued without reason.
