Gangster injured in Miran Sahib gunfight, another arrested

Jammu, Jan 31: Jammu Police on Friday apprehended a notorious gangster and injured another in a gunfight in the Miran Sahib area.
A police official said that reliable information was received by the police that Paramjit Singh @ Jungi, a hardcore criminal and gangster from R S Pura, along with an unidentified associate, was roaming in the area with a firearm, intending to commit a serious crime.
Acting swiftly, a police team from Police Station Miran Sahib rushed to the location. Upon arrival, the criminals opened fire at the police party. In retaliation the police fired back, injuring Paramjit Singh in the leg. He was immediately transported to GMC Hospital Jammu for medical treatment, the official added.
The police also apprehended Arjun Kumar @ Billu, an accomplice and wanted criminal, from Akhnoor. Arjun Kumar was identified as a notorious gangster with a history of criminal activities.
In addition to the arrests, arms and ammunition were recovered from the gangsters, the official said, adding that an FIR has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigation is underway.
