FICCI FLO-JKL Chapter inks MoU with Central University of Jammu

Jammu, Feb 4: FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter and Central University of Jammu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to work together for skilling and entrepreneurship promotion, health and wellness, women empowerment and other areas of mutual interest under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. It is pertinent to mention here that FICCI Ladies Organisation is the women’s wing of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry -a Not for Profit organization incorporated under the Companies Act, having its corporate office at Delhi. This collaboration aims to equip women students with essential skills that align with industry demands. MoUs was signed by Ms. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI-FLOJKL Chapter and Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu in presence of Core team members of FICCI-FLO-JKL Ms. ⁠Aarti Chowdhary, Sr. Vice Chairperson, Ms. ⁠Sona Mehta, Treasurer, Ms. ⁠Nandita Bajaj, Jt. Executive Secretary cand faculty members from School of Business Studies including Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq and Dr. Asif Ali. Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu is committed to nurture the next generation of leaders and strengthen the workforce with skilled women. He apprised that University is having a significant presence of female students and staff and has initiated affirmative action for increasing their enrolment by offering one seat in each Department for Single Girl Child category and facilitating placement of students by offering market driven courses.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson, FICCI-FLO-JKL highlighted that FLO-JKL under the Young Women Affinity Group (YWAG) initiative, aims to engage with women students in various empowerment activities. The initiative focuses on fostering personal and professional growth among young women in higher education, aligning with FLO’s mission to support and empower women across all stages of their lives.She said that FICCI-FLOJKL facilitates smooth transition from the academic environment to the corporate world.
Prof. Yashwant Singh expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, acknowledging FLO JKL’s efforts for preparing students for successful corporate careers. He pointed out that the MoU paves the way for joint initiatives to strengthen the entrepreneurship and start-up climate among students’ community.
Prof. Jaya Bhasin said that this partnership is a significant stride to help the student community benefit by enhancing their skills and knowledge with regard to entrepreneurship, innovation and start-ups.
On this occasion Dr. Shahid Mushtaq shared valuable inputs about Vocationalisation and skilling ecosystem being promoted by Central University of Jammu in project mode. He further informed that University has established a Section 8 company CUJ SITE COUNCIL to provide incubation support to learners.The environment and the discussion echoed a strong resolve to achieve the mandate.This MoU is aimed at offering the students enhanced opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and contribute to the region’s economic growth. Both institutions will collaborate for organising workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies and subject expertise besides enabling small businesses with the right skill sets and training as well as creating networking forums for them to learn from like-minded individuals and industry experts. It is anticipated that this collaboration will empower female students of Central University of Jammu by offering them a significant avenue to exhibit their entrepreneurial prowess and specialized knowledge to a global clientele. The entire programme was coordinated by Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq and Dr. Asif Ali from School of Business Studies.
