Early Times Report KATHUA, Feb 6: The District Cyber Cell Kathua, under the supervision of SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena (IPS), has successfully recovered an online defrauded amount of ?2,24,000 and credited it back to the victim's account. The incident dates back to 29 November 2024 when a complainant, Narinder Singh of Shiva Nagar, Kathua, reported an online fraud through the National Cyber Crime Reporting (NCCR) portal. The victim was duped by an individual who impersonated as a stock market broker on social media and convinced him to invest in cryptocurrency. Believing the fraudster's promises of high returns, the victim transferred Rs 2,24,000. Upon realizing he had been defrauded, the victim filed a complaint. The Cyber Cell team responded promptly, taking swift action to freeze the fraudster's accounts and recover the full amount. On 05 February 2025, the defrauded Rs 2,24,000 was successfully recovered and returned to the victim's account. This accomplishment highlights the district's commitment and efficiency in combatting cybercrime.
