UDHAMPUR, Feb 8: The District Police Udhampur foiled a bovine smuggling attempt at Roundomail and rescued 10 bovines being transported illegally.
A police team from Police Post Roun, led by its ICPP, was conducting routine patrolling and vehicle checking at a naka point on Dhar Road when they intercepted a truck (JK02CT-1855) for inspection. Upon checking, 10 bovines were found inside the vehicle, tied in a cruel manner and being transported without valid permission.
The accused, identified as Mohd. Qalim, son of Yousaf Mohd, a resident of Dansal, Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu, was arrested on the spot. The rescued bovines were shifted to a safer location.
A case has been registered at Police Station Udhampur under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway. |
