Agencies CHANDIGARH, Feb 8: In a befitting celebration of Basant Panchmi, the Sustainable Practices Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised 'Basant Utsav' with the purpose to celebrate our rich cultural heritage while reliving memories of our long forgotten customs. Dressed in different hues of yellow, the staff members and students thoroughly enjoyed the festivities basking in the warmth of sunshine. The event comprised of Braid Styling Competition, 'Swaal Jwaab'- a fun quiz related to Basant, and 'Khanak'- a stall of colourful bangles. Adding to the flavour of the celebration, 'Udaan' brought out the child in everyone present as they indulged in kite flying. Another highlight of the event was 'Basant walk' wherein children of staff members walked the stage in traditional attire, Traditional besan barfi was also distributed on this occasion, enhancing the sweetness of the celebration. Speaking on this occasion, Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan said that through this celebration, the college envisioned to celebrate the spirit of resilience and positivity, and expressed hope that the spring will herald a welcome change. |
