Early Times Report SAMBA, Feb 27: Dogra Degree College, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, proudly hosted the Valedictory Function of its Seven-Day National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp on February 27, 2025. The event marked the successful completion of a week-long initiative aimed at promoting social responsibility, community service, and environmental awareness among students and local communities. The camp, which began on February 20, featured various activities, including a Plantation Drive, an Awareness Lecture on Solid Waste Management, a Campaign on Government Welfare Schemes, a Water Literacy and Pond Cleaning Drive, and a Health Talk at an Anganwadi Centre. These initiatives benefited the residents of Smailpur and Meen Sarkar, reinforcing the students' commitment to public service. The Valedictory Function was graced by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak Ji, Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust, and Dr. Samardev Singh Charak, Secretary of the Trust, whose guidance played a vital role in the camp's success. Dr. Dharamveer, Dean of Dogra Degree College, emphasized the importance of student participation in community-driven initiatives, while Principal Dr. Bela Thakur encouraged students to continue their efforts toward societal betterment. Key guests included Dr. Geetika Sehgal, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Ms. Meena Choudhary, and Mr. Rajpal Singh, who actively contributed to the outreach activities. Dr. Gurpreet Kour, NSS Programme Officer from GCW Parade, and Dr. Geetanjali Rajput, Medical Health Officer, Smailpur, also provided valuable insights during the camp. The event began with a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, symbolizing the bright future of community service. Saplings were presented to dignitaries as a pledge toward environmental sustainability. Ms. Simran Thakur, NSS Programme Officer, presented the Camp Report, highlighting the week's impactful activities. She was supported throughout by Ms. Amarpreet, Ms. Shivangi, and Ms. Sonia. A Skit Performance by NSS volunteers showcased social issues tackled during the camp, while a Cultural Dance Performance added vibrancy, celebrating regional traditions. The NSS camp was successfully coordinated under the supervision of Ms. Simran Thakur, assisted by Ms. Palak Gupta, Ms. Shivangi Dhrora, and Ms. Sonia Gupta.
