Udhampur police foil bovine smuggling attempts, 12 bovine sescued | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: In a continued effort to curb illegal bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police successfully foiled two separate smuggling attempts, rescuing a total of 12 bovine. 1st Incident - Chenani Police Foil Smuggling Attempt, 4 Bovines Rescued A police team from Police Station Chenani, during a naka checking duty, intercepted a Tata Mobile (JK14K-1765). Upon inspection, 04 bovines were found cruelly tied and being transported illegally without valid permission. The driver, identified as Khursheed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Maitra, Ramban, was arrested on the spot. The rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place. Case FIR No. 22/2025 under the relevant section has been registered at Police Station Chenani. Further investigation is underway. 2nd Incident - Udhampur Police Rescue 8 Bovines, Driver Flees During a routine Naka checking near Police Post Roundomail, a police team from Police Station Udhampur noticed a vehicle (Tata Yodha - JK19A/5934) coming from Manwal towards Udhampur. Upon seeing the checking point, the driver abandoned the vehicle in the middle of the road and fled. Upon inspection, 08 bovines were found cruelly tied and being transported illegally without valid permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place. Case FIR No. 61/2025 under Section 223(a) BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur. |
