Thannamandi, Mar 2: The Department of Urdu in collaboration with Cultural Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi organized a literary event, Mehfil-e-Afsana, celebrating the art of story writing. The event featured renowned guest speakers and showcased thought-provoking Afsanas, highlighting the richness of Urdu literature. The distinguished guest speakers included Iqbal Nazish, who delivered a presidential address on the occasion and also presented his Pahadi Afsana “Kali Padi” that reflected a sorrowful saga of a lost culture and traditional values, and the afsana was read with heightened imagination. Mohd Aslam Mirza captivated the audience with his afsanas “Dad’s Gift” and “Ab Kisay Rehnuma Karay Koi”, the style and art in both of the stories had a profound impact on the audience. On behalf of Zanfar Khokhar, Dr. Abdul Haque Naimi read out her afsana, bringing her literary voice to the audience. Dr. Ashaq Malik contributed with his insightful afsana “Hum Kitnay Sharmindah Howay”, adding depth to the session by narrating his thoughts on Aligarh culture as lived by him during his scholarly days. The event was graced by the esteemed Principal of GDC Thannamandi, who expressed his gratitude to the guest speakers and participants, appreciating their contribution to the literary discourse. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr. Mudasir Gori, ensuring a smooth flow of the session. At the conclusion, Prof. Abdul Haque Naimi, Head, Department of Urdu, presented the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all involved in making the event a success.
