Snowfall, landslides block key roads in Kishtwar

Jammu, Mar 2: Heavy snowfall, landslides and snow avalanches have blocked the key roads in Kishtwar district.
According to the details available with Early Times due to a landslide at Pathernaki in Nagsini tehsil, an important thoroughfare Kishtwar-Padder-Kellar (Himachal Pradesh) road has got blocked for vehicular movement with over 30000 population living in Padder Sub Division getting totally cut off from the rest of the Union Territory.
Kellar & Pangi areas of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh that mostly remain dependent on this strategically important road for connectivity during winters due to closure of Sach Pass have also become inaccessible. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan chaired a meeting to get updates about the status of various roads in the district.
He directed Block Medical Officers pf Kishtwar and Paddar to make medical transit camp at both site of the landslide hit area for any medical emergency; besides keep ambulances available on both the sides of landslide hit areas.
The Deputy Commissioner directed Tehsildar Nagseni/ Atholi to establish a control room 24 x7 for assistance of the public and the contact details of the control room shall be shared in public domain.
