Reasi, Mar 2: In a major crackdown on illegal bovine smuggling, Reasi Police successfully intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (Reg. No. JK20C/1172) transporting four bovines without the mandatory permission from the District Magistrate. During a routine checkpoint inspection, a police team from P/S Katra apprehended the said vehicle, which was enroute from Reasi towards Katra. Upon inquiry, the driver identified himself as Mohd Asif S/O Mumtaz Ahmed R/O Tangar, Ramban, while the co-driver was identified as Shakeel Mohd S/O Shehar Din R/O Kainthgali. When questioned about the transportation of the bovines in a cruel and illegal manner, both individuals failed to provide a satisfactory explanation. Acting swiftly, Police registered a case under FIR No. 57/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11(1)(a) PCA Act and an investigation has been initiated. The whole operation led by SHO P/S Katra Issp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Sh. Bhisham Dubey-JKPS and SP Katra Sh. Vipin Chandran-JKPS. SSP Reasi, Sh. Paramvir Singh, JKPS, while sharing details, emphasized that Reasi Police remains committed to curbing illegal activities and ensuring strict enforcement of the law. Citizens are urged to report any such suspicious activities to the nearest police station for immediate action. |
