Jammu, Mar 3: The principal opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has expressed satisfaction over Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to the first budget session of the newly formed National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir. Leader of Opposition and MLA from Nagani-Paddar, Sunil Sharma, said that 71 points mentioned in the LG’s address are nothing but an endorsement of the visionary policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre. “Contentious issues like the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35-A, which the ruling party promised during elections, are conspicuously missing from the LG’s address,” Sharma pointed out. He further stated that the Lieutenant Governor’s address, traditionally marking the beginning of the budget session, reflect “I am happy that the Lieutenant Governor’s speech serves as a strong endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and development-centric governance.” the Centre’s development roadmap, rather than the agenda of the National Conference government. “If you closely examine the LG’s address, it becomes evident that the government’s own vision and poll promises are absent. The speech is essentially a replica of the BJP government’s policies and programmes at the national level,” Sharma said. The BJP leader added, “I am happy that the Lieutenant Governor’s speech serves as a strong endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and development-centric governance.” The BJP’s reaction comes as a clear indication that the opposition party sees the LG’s address as validation of its pro-people policies, while questioning the National Conference for failing to highlight its own election manifesto in the inaugural address to the Assembly. |
