Srinagar, Mar 6: A total of 5,868 Kashmiri migrants have been appointed under the special employment package against the 6,000 sanctioned posts in Jammu and Kashmir, an official document has revealed. The document said that out of the 6,000 approved flats for Kashmiri migrants, the construction work has been taken up on 4,848 units. Of these, 2,832 flats have been completed with 1,221 already allotted, while 2,016 flats are at various stages of completion. Regarding financial assistance to displaced persons, Rs 1,452.33 crore has been disbursed among 33,636 displaced families from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) (1947), as well as those from Chhamb (1965 and 1971).
Also, Rs 88.53 crore has been disbursed to 3,541 West Pakistani refugees, who are now eligible for a J&K Domicile Certificate.
It mentions that 3,408 Kanals and 16 Marlas of land belonging to migrants have been retrieved from encroachments and illegal occupation. “Efforts are part of ongoing measures to rehabilitate displaced communities and provide them with housing, employment, and legal entitlements,” it added.
