Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 10: In celebration of International Women's Week, a special Santoor recital session was organized at Govt. Women PG College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with Aarohi Sangeet Vidhalaya. The event was chaired by Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, and featured distinguished guests from various fields. Among the esteemed guests were Mrs. Neha Jalali, Director of the Press Information Bureau; Dr. Arvind Karwani, Commissioner for Relief and Rehabilitation; Vikram Randhawa, MLA of Bahu Constituency; Rajesh Kumar, Director of ICCR J&K Chapter; Dr. S.S. Parihar, Principal of Govt. Women PG College Gandhi Nagar; Ms. Rekha Mahajan, Secretary of BJP J&K; and R.K. Tikku, the program organizer. The event showcased remarkable performances by both young and seasoned artists, paying tribute to the power and resilience of women. In her presidential address, Dr. Andrabi emphasized that Indian women are experiencing a golden era under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. "From Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to the vast spectrum of women-centric welfare initiatives, this is the most favorable time for women's empowerment in India. Women today are excelling in all fields, proving their capabilities and leadership," she remarked. Dr. Andrabi also highlighted the transformative impact of various government schemes designed to uplift women and encourage them to break barriers in unconventional fields. "Women are leading in education, politics, business, defense, and technology, driving India toward a new golden age," she added. She expressed her gratitude to the college, ICCR, and other collaborators for organizing the event, which celebrated women's achievements through the classical melodies of Santoor. |
