SRINAGAR, Mar 10: The week-long wet spell started in Kashmir on Monday as rains lashed various parts of the valley including Srinagar. The Meteorological Centre Srinagar Monday said wet weather is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir till the weekend. It predicted intermittent light to moderate rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours. The weather is likely to remain cloudy today with the possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain or now at many places with moderate snowfall over higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal . There is a possibility of light rain or snow at isolated to scattered places on March 11 while another spell of light to moderate rain and snow at many places during March 12 and 14. Srinagar recorded the highest day temperature at 16.1°C on the previous day. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, had a low of 8.4°C recorded during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. This was 5.1°C above the average for the place during this period of the season. Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.5°C and this was 4.5°C above the average for the famous ski resort during this period of the season while tourist at the tourist resort of Pahalgam the night temperature significantly improved and recorded at 4.6°C against the -2.7°C the previous day and this was 6.2°C above normal for the valley of Shepherds in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district , the MeT office said. |
