BJP backstabbed people's mandate, restore Statehood to J&K immediatly: Tony | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 5: Senior Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has slammed the BJP-led Central Government for disrespecting the democratically elected government in Jammu and Kashmir and demanded the immediate restoration of full statehood. He said that despite J&K having a democratically elected government in place, key decisions continue to be influenced by an unelected bureaucratic setup, undermining the authority of the elected representatives. In a press release issued here today, the senior Congress leader stated that the dual power structure, where bureaucrats function parallel to the elected government, is an insult to democracy and a betrayal of the people's mandate. "A government elected by the people should have the sole authority to make decisions in their interest. However, the BJP has ensured that bureaucratic interference continues, rendering the elected government ineffective in key policy matters," he said. Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, Tony said that crime, corruption, and administrative inefficiency are on the rise due to the absence of strong political leadership. "There is an urgent need to streamline governance by ensuring competent officials are posted in key positions to handle security and developmental issues effectively," he added. Tony further accused the BJP of backstabbing the people of J&K with false promises of full statehood. "For years, BJP has used the issue of statehood as an election gimmick. The people of J&K voted with the hope of regaining their rightful status, but the BJP has deceived them at every step," he stated. The senior Congress leader demanded that the Central Government should respect the democratic mandate and immediately restore J&K's full statehood, ensuring that the elected government functions without bureaucratic dominance. "The people of J&K deserve a governance system that is accountable, transparent, and free from external interference," he added. |
