JAMMU, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the Financial Assistance Schemes for West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs), and PoJK and Chhamb Refugees settled in the UT till March 2026.
A decision in this regard was taken after approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
As per an order, the financial assistance scheme for 5,764 West Pakistani Refugee (WPR) families, initially notified in 2018, will now continue from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 within the approved outlay of Rs. 317.02 crore, with no extension beyond the sunset date.
Similarly, the scheme of Central Assistance for one-time settlement of displaced families from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) of 1947 and Chhamb of 1965 and 1971, launched under the Prime Minister’s Development Package-2015, has also been extended for the same period within an approved outlay of Rs. 2,000 crore. |
