Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Apr 5: In a heartening celebration of womanhood and empowerment, a symposium titled "The Women - The Architects of Society" was organized at Army Public School (APS), Akhnoor, under the aegis of the National Council for Communal Harmony and Welfare Organisation (NCCHWO). The event aimed to educate students on the dignity of women and their pivotal role in shaping the nation. Graced by the General Officer Commanding, Cross Sword Division, as the Chief Guest, the event brought together distinguished women speakers who shared inspiring stories of courage, achievement, and resilience. Brig. Harcharan Singh, VSM and National Administrator of NCCHWO, introduced the concept of the symposium, highlighting the historical and constitutional recognition of women's contributions to society. The programme opened with a soulful song dedicated to Nari Shakti by Ms. Suresh Bala, a versatile artist who once represented Jammu University at a talent competition hosted by Banaras Hindu University. Ms. Tina Sahi, an ultra-marathon runner, TV anchor, and entrepreneur, shared her transformation journey from a homemaker to being known as the "Iron Lady," stressing the importance of working hard towards one's dreams instead of merely aspiring for success. Dr. Kamal Deep Kaur, an accomplished educationist, author, and NCC ANO awardee, urged students to choose an aim aligned with their capabilities and pursue it with dedication. She spoke about the vital role of teachers and parents in shaping young minds and building character. Veer Nari Ruby Bano, whose husband was martyred by terrorists, shared her powerful story of resilience and her continued support to fellow Veer Naris in Srinagar. She emphasized unity in the cause of women's empowerment and upliftment. Renowned historian and motivational speaker Col. Ajay Raina, SM, delivered a thought-provoking talk encouraging students to connect with Indian history and culture. He spoke about the values and traditions that define Indian society and the moral strength derived from them. The Chief Guest lauded the efforts of NCCHWO in reinforcing Indian cultural values among youth. He praised the role of women in society, referring to them as true pillars of strength-Nari Shakti. The event also recognized the contributions of Inner Wheel Club Jammu, led by its President Ms. Paramjit Kaur. With their support and donations, a bathroom was constructed for a poor widow's family in Akhnoor, showcasing real-time community service. The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal of APS Akhnoor and a recital of the National Anthem. The event was skillfully anchored by Ms. Neelam.
