Chenab Valley Girls Sports Competition concludes with Grand Ceremony

DODA, Apr 5: The Chenab Valley Girls Sports Competition, organised under the aegis of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' Abhiyan, concluded with great enthusiasm and spirit on the Government Degree College (GDC) Doda grounds.
The event celebrated the empowerment of young female athletes from the region through competitive sports. Organised by the District Administration Doda in collaboration with Dronacharya Chenab Sports Academy and Green Model Higher Secondary School Doda, the multi-sports event featured competitions in Basketball, Rifle Shooting, Archery, Boxing, and Cricket. The athletes displayed exceptional talent, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The grand finale saw the final cricket match played between GMHSS and DCSA on the GDC Doda grounds. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh was the Chief Guest, while the College Principal Dr. Javed Iqbal Zarger was the Guest of Honour. Others present were Chairman Dronacharya Chenab Sports Academy Bharat Bhushan; Principal GMHSS O.P. Chandail; DYSSO Pritam Singh and TSWO Babu Ram. In his address, the Deputy Commissioner applauded the participating athletes for their enthusiasm and discipline. He emphasized the vital role sports play in building the spirit of teamwork, resilience, and leadership among youth.
As part of the closing ceremony, winners from all sporting events were felicitated with medals and trophies, recognizing their outstanding performances and inspiring other young girls to pursue excellence in sports. The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Arjun Singh (Physical Education Director, GDC Kashtigarh), Om Parkash and Vinod Bandral. The competitions were officially conducted by DYSS officials Anil Singh, Kamashevar Chandail, Bandana Kotwal, Ifroz Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, and Ashok Sharma.
Additionally, the Social Welfare Department conducted Nasha Mukti Abhiyan activities during the event, spreading awareness with the powerful message "Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life" through various engaging sports-based initiatives. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Jaswant Singh, Physical Education Director, GDC Doda, marking the successful conclusion of the empowering and inspiring sports festival.
