Jammu, Apr 8: As part of a weeklong series of activities marking the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Sidhra, in collaboration with the Library Committee, organized a special exhibition to honor the life and legacy of the architect of the Indian Constitution. Held in the college library, the event featured a curated display of 25–30 books showcasing Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to Indian society. Mr. Hilal Ahmad, the college librarian, guided NSS volunteers from all semesters through the collection, offering valuable insights into the intellectual and reformative works of Dr. Ambedkar. Following the exhibition, Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer, addressed the students and staff, highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s pivotal role in advocating for social justice, economic reform, women’s empowerment, and inclusive education. She emphasized that Ambedkar’s contributions extend far beyond the drafting of the Constitution, impacting every facet of Indian society. The exhibition saw participation from the entire college staff, who engaged with the material and reflected on the enduring importance of the Constitution as the foundation of India’s democratic values. Principal Dr. G.S. Rakwal praised the enthusiasm of the students and commended the efforts of the organizing team. He acknowledged the significance of such initiatives in fostering awareness and national pride among youth. The event was successfully organized by Dr. Purvaiya Hans with the active support of NSS volunteers and under the guidance of Principal Dr. G.S. Rakwal. |
