GDC Ramnagar Hosts Orientation Programme

Ramnagar, Apr 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar, through its Career Counseling and Placement Cell and the Department of Political Science, in collaboration with IQAC, organized an orientation programme on “Career Opportunities in the Academic World” and the “PM Internship Scheme.” The event was held under the patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal and supervised by Dr. Pankaj Sharma and Dr. Puyesh Kant Sharma.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, in his address, lauded the joint initiative for creating awareness among students about academic and professional opportunities. He emphasized the value of early career planning and encouraged students to stay informed, proactive, and focused on their goals.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, Head, Department of Commerce and member of the Career Counseling Cell. He spoke about the significance of career guidance and the importance of exploring both academic and internship avenues.
The first session, led by Dr. Puyesh Kant Sharma, Head, Department of Political Science, provided an in-depth overview of academic career opportunities, particularly within the field of Political Science. He elaborated on teaching, research, and roles in governmental and allied sectors, guiding students on the qualifications and skillsets required.
In the second session, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Convener, Career Counseling and Placement Cell and Co-Convener IQAC, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the PM Internship Scheme. He detailed its objectives, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and benefits, motivating students to take advantage of the Government of India’s initiative.
The sessions were highly interactive, with students actively participating and seeking clarifications on both topics. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sham Singh, Head, Department of Geology, who commended the organizers and applauded the enthusiastic involvement of the student community.
The programme was successfully coordinated by the Career Counseling and Placement Cell comprising Dr. Pankaj Sharma (Convenor), Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandit, Dr. Puyesh Kant Sharma, and Prof. Sanjay Malhotra.
