Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 8: The Drugs & Food Control Organisation (DFCO), Jammu Division, has flagged a notable revenue generation of Rs 1.24 crore and imposed fines amounting to Rs 76,000 under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) during the financial year 2024–25. Reaffirming its commitment to public health and consumer safety, the organisation undertook proactive and extensive measures to curb food adulteration, unsanitary conditions, and related malpractices. These initiatives were geared towards upholding the integrity of the food supply chain and ensuring the well-being of the public. Teams of Food Safety Officers carried out rigorous inspections and special drives across a wide spectrum of food categories throughout the Jammu Division—covering markets at the block, district, and divisional levels. The enforcement of the FSS Act, 2006, was conducted with strict adherence to both the letter and spirit of the law. These sustained efforts underscore the DFCO’s dedication to ensuring food safety, improving hygiene standards, and fostering a healthier community by holding stakeholders accountable. |
