Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Apr 8: Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Jammu, chaired a comprehensive meeting with the field staff of Zone Akhnoor and Zone Chowki Choura today. The meeting took place at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Sohal, and witnessed the participation of Physical Education Lecturers (PELs), Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Rehbar-e-Khel (REK) officials, and National Youth Corps (NYC) members from both zones. The Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs) of Akhnoor and Chowki Choura were also in attendance. The key agenda of the meeting was to deliberate on the Annual Activity Calendar of the Department of Youth Services and Sports for the session 2025-26. DYSSO Sharma reviewed progress reports on current sports activities and addressed the challenges being faced by the field staff in their zones. Commending the dedication of the field staff, DYSSO Sharma lauded their efforts in scouting and grooming sporting talent. He underlined the pivotal role of sports in promoting the physical and mental well-being of youth, steering them away from detrimental influences and shaping them into responsible citizens. During the session, Shri Vishal briefed attendees on the player registration process on the departmental e-portal, emphasizing its necessity for players' participation in upcoming competitions. ZPEO Chowki Choura, Smt. Nirmal Kumari, highlighted the importance of maintaining daily activity logs and urged the staff to engage students from underrepresented schools, thereby broadening the scope of sports participation. ZPEO Akhnoor, Shri Ashok Kumar, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal of GHSS Sohal for providing the venue for the meeting. He also encouraged the field staff to uphold impartiality and professionalism in all official duties. The meeting concluded with a united commitment from all attendees to strengthen grassroots-level sports and nurture a vibrant, inclusive sports culture across both zones. |
