Samba police foil three bovine smuggling attempts

SAMBA, Apr 8: In a major crackdown against bovine smuggling, Samba Police successfully foiled three separate smuggling attempts, arrested two smugglers, rescued 22 bovines, and seized three vehicles used for the illegal transportation.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Police Station Samba led by SHO Samba intercepted a truck (JK03J-3738) at Naka Nud on Samba-Mansar Road.
Upon inspection, eight bovines were found cruelly tied and being transported without valid permission.
The arrested accused were identified as:
Rafaqit Ahmed Khan, S/o Nazeer Ahmed Khan, R/o Bringan, Anantnag
Manzoor Ahmed, S/o Mohd Maqbool Bakrwal, R/o Udhampur
FIR No. 93/2025 under Section 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
Based on inputs received at Police Post Goran, a Bolero (PB08BU-9168) was intercepted near Dhuneyian on the Goran-Sumb road by a team led by Incharge PP Goran.
Four bovines were found tied in a cruel manner and transported illegally.
FIR No. 94/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been lodged at PS Samba.
In another operation, a dumper (JK19A-2570) was intercepted near Basantar bed by Incharge PP Supwal.
Ten bovines were found being transported under inhumane conditions and without legal documents.
FIR No. 95/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Samba and overall command of SSP Samba.
Samba Police reaffirm their commitment to act tough against bovine smugglers and safeguard animal rights.
