Early Times Report RAJOURI, Apr 8: In a significant move against drug trafficking, Rajouri Police apprehended two individuals in possession of 88 grams of charas-like narcotics during a routine patrol near Mehra Morh, Khandli, Rajouri. The incident took place on Sunday when a police team from Police Station Rajouri, while on regular patrolling duty, noticed a suspicious scooty without a number plate heading from Kotdhara towards Rajouri. Upon interception near Mehra Morh, two individuals were found riding the vehicle. A personal search led to the recovery of charas-like narcotic substance weighing 88 grams from their possession. The individuals were immediately taken into custody. The accused have been identified as: Mohd Asif, son of Mohd Farooq, resident of Ward No. 02, Bhella Rajouri (driver of the vehicle) Sameena Jameel Sheikh alias Simmi, daughter of Jameel Sheikh, resident of Malik Market, Rajouri A case under FIR No. 182/2025 has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Rajouri. The recovered contraband has been seized and both the accused were arrested on the spot. Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify the source and possible network linkages involved in the illegal drug trade. The operation marks a proactive step in Rajouri Police's ongoing efforts to curb the menace of narcotics in the region. |
