| UP sets new benchmark in pharma & clinical trials under Yogi govt | | | Agencies
LUCKNOW, Apr 8: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a new hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and clinical research. Marking a significant milestone, the Chief Minister has approved the state's first-ever Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the pharmaceutical sector. This strategic move aims to streamline the processes related to drug production and clinical trials, setting the stage for UP to become a key player in the global pharma landscape. As part of this initiative, 20 leading medical institutions across the state have been onboarded to conduct clinical trials. These institutions will not only carry out the trials but also implement globally aligned protocols and undergo specialized training to ensure adherence to best practices. To support this effort, a budget of Rs 9.5 crores has been sanctioned, highlighting the government's commitment to building a robust pharmaceutical innovation and testing ecosystem. This major step by the Yogi government is expected to strengthen the pharma sector in Uttar Pradesh, generate new employment opportunities, and enhance the state's role in the national and international healthcare economy. These advancements are complemented by the reforms already undertaken in the health and medical education sectors under the Chief Minister's leadership.
