PDP leaders have accused the National Conference of extending a “red-carpet reception” to Rijiju, who recently piloted the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 in Parliament.
Raking up the morning walk issue, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti charged the ruling National Conference with supporting the Waqf Bill. She was of the opinion that Kiren Rijiju’s visit to Kashmir after the passing of the Waqf Bill was a strategic move.

Party Chief Mehbooba Mufti further fueled the fire, directly accusing the National Conference of tacitly supporting the controversial legislation by cozying up to Rijiju during his Srinagar visit.
ter the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Parliament, Minister Kiran Rijiju strategically chose to visit Kashmir. He was given a red carpet welcome by the Chief Minister of India’s only Muslim-majority state”, she alleged.
The bill, which has stirred significant debate across India, has become a lightning rod in this regional dispute. PDP MLAs wasted no time in raising the issue within the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, amplifying their allegations of political collusion.
