292 vehicles challaned, Rs 17.03 lakh fine imposed in Kathua; 6 seized | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Apr 10: The Transport Department has now tightened its belt against those who violate the rules and the department is now taking strict action against anyone found violating the rules, once again a campaign was launched on Thursday by the Motor Vehicle Department Lakhanpur and 292 vehicles violating the rules were challaned and a fine of 17 lakh three thousand rupees was imposed. The enforcement team of RTO office Kathua and the flying squad team of MVD Jammu conducted checking on Jammu Pathankot National Highway in different areas of Kathua during the intervening night. During the enforcement campaign, 1200 vehicles were checked, out of which 292 vehicles were challaned, 06 vehicles were seized and a fine of Rs 25,000 was imposed. During the campaign, a fine of Rs 1703000/- was imposed on the violators. However, during the naka checking, the team members also made the drivers aware of the traffic rules that they should keep their documents with them while driving and not to overload the vehicles and not to use mobile phones while driving. The owners and drivers were advised to drive on the road with valid documents and avoid overspeeding and not to use mobile phones while driving, which often causes accidents on the road. The drivers of the vehicles were also warned that if any driver is found overloading, strict action will be taken by the department. The checking team was led by Shammi Kumar, ARTO Kathua, accompanied by MVIAs Vikas Sharma, Jatinder Singh Chib, and SMVI Neeraj Kumar. On Thursday, Transport Commissioner, J&K made a surprise visit to RTO office Kathua and MVD Tax Collection Post Lakhanpur. He interacted with the officers posted there and reviewed the functioning of the office and check-post. He directed the RTO, Kathua to ensure that there is no manual transaction of cash and all taxes should be collected through POS machine installed there. He also directed to ensure that no other state vehicle without valid documents should enter J&K UT through this MVD Tax Collection Post. Transport Commissioner J&K during his visit to RTO office Kathua interacted with the applicants who had come for driving test there. He also inspected the driving trial test of some new driving license seekers. He also interacted with the office staff and directed them to dispose of the public works without any delay. He directed the RTO, Kathua to ensure regular checking of vehicles in the district so as to curb traffic violations to reduce road accidents and save precious human lives. The Transport Commissioner also inspected 16 Kanal State land given to the Transport Department for setting up Automated Driving Training Institute to conduct driving tests of applicants on Automated Test Track with minimum human intervention. He directed the RTO, Kathua to submit the estimate for immediate construction of boundary wall soon. Besides, he also visited ISBT Kathua and directed the RTO Kathua to take necessary steps for early operationalization of ISBT Kathua. The J&K Transport Commissioner also interacted with media persons. While responding to the queries raised by the media persons, he said that regular checking would be conducted in the state to curb traffic violations. He also informed that the main focus of the department is to provide hassle free services to the public and safe transport facilities to the commuters. He further told media persons that strict actions like suspension of driving licence, route permit and registration certificate of repeat traffic violators would be taken to reduce road accidents and save precious human lives. |
