LG sacks 2 more ‘terror-friendly’ employees; 72 fired since 2020 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10: On Sunday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha terminated the employment of two additional government workers suspected of supporting terrorism. One of the dismissed employees held the critical role of Assistant Wireless Operator within the Police Department. Since the establishment of a Special Task Force in July 2020 aimed at identifying government employees linked to activities threatening national security, a total of 72 such individuals have been removed from their positions. This task force collaborates with the Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) to compile and review records of these employees for further action. An official statement released on April 10, 2025, detailed the dismissal of two employees—one from the Police Department and another from the Public Works (R&B) Department—under Article 311 of the Indian Constitution, citing their significant involvement in anti-national activities. Investigations by law enforcement and intelligence agencies revealed that these individuals engaged in actions detrimental to state interests and supportive of terrorism. Basharat Ahmad Mir, the Assistant Wireless Operator from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, was found to be in regular contact with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives, sharing sensitive information about security deployments that compromised national safety. Despite his training and access to critical data, Mir chose to assist adversarial forces, endangering India's sovereignty and security. Similarly, Ishtiyak Ahmed Malik, a Senior Assistant in the Public Works (R&B) Department, was actively involved with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI-JK) and linked to the terrorist group Hizbul Mujahideen. Malik bolstered JeI’s influence, cultivated a network of sympathizers who turned into active supporters of Hizbul Mujahideen, and provided logistical support to terrorists. His intelligence contributions regarding security force movements facilitated attacks that often resulted in casualties. The administration continues to enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy towards government employees exploiting their positions to engage in anti-national activities. |
