GDC Thannamandi celebrates World Health Day | | | Early Times Report THANNAMANDI, Apr 11: In continuation of World Health Day 2025 celebrations, Govt. Degree College Thannamandi organized a vibrant 'Fit India Movement' event under the leadership of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, here today. The event held in the Gymnasium Hall, featuring a mix of indoor and outdoor sports activities, alongside an on-spot Essay writing competition on the topic "Prospects of a Healthy Life." This initiative underscored the college's commitment to promoting holistic well-being and aligning with the national Fit India Movement. Dr. Nazar Ul Islam, the nodal officer of the Fit India Movement Initiative, seamlessly coordinated the program that kicked started by Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed who himself participated in sports activities. Dr. Ashaq Malik, Co-ordinator IQAC, delivered an inspiring inaugural speech wherein he eloquently emphasized the inseparable link between a healthy lifestyle and a successful life. He highlighted that physical fitness enhances mental clarity, boosts productivity, and builds resilience-key ingredients for achieving personal and professional success. His words resonated deeply with the audience, motivating students and staff to prioritize health as a foundation for a fulfilling life. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the theme with a powerful message. He elaborated that a healthy lifestyle, encompassing regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and mental well-being, is the cornerstone of a successful life. He encouraged the college community to adopt these habits not just as temporary goals but as lifelong commitments, stating, "A healthy body and mind empower us to overcome challenges and seize opportunities, paving the way for success in all endeavours." The sports segment showcased remarkable talent, with winners emerging in various categories: Prof. Athar Aziz Raina and Mohsin Qayoom clinched the Table Tennis championship, Saiba and Iqra excelled in the Carrom Board competition, Mohsin Qayoom emerged victorious in the chess championship, and Sajid emerged victorious in the Dead Lifting event. These activities highlighted the college's dedication to promoting physical well-being among students and staff.
