Jammu police foil bovine smuggling bid, rescue 30 animals | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 11: In a major success under the ongoing Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu & Kashmir Police have intensified their efforts to curb bovine smuggling in the region. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the police team from Police Post Pounichak intercepted a vehicle and successfully foiled a smuggling attempt at Pacca Gharaat, Gole Gujral. The team rescued 30 bovines from a vehicle bearing registration number JK02 AC 7818, which was being used to transport the animals illegally. However, the driver managed to flee the spot, evading arrest. Following the incident, a case has been registered under FIR No. 94/2025 at Police Station Domana under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. The proactive and consistent action by the police has drawn appreciation from the local public, who hailed their role in enforcing law and order and curbing the menace of bovine smuggling in the region. |
