Udhampur police foils two smuggling attempts, rescues 35 bovines, 4 smugglers arrested | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Apr 11: Continuing its crackdown on bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police successfully foiled two separate smuggling attempts and rescued 35 bovines, arresting four accused in the process. In Chenani, a police team led by SHO Chenani intercepted two trucks (JK19A-9004 and JK14C-8877) and rescued 27 bovines being transported in an inhumane manner without valid permission. The arrested individuals were identified as Sahil, resident of Banihal, and Barkat Ali, resident of Rajpura. FIRs 37/2025 and 38/2025 have been registered at Police Station Chenani. In Majalta, the police rescued 8 bovines being smuggled on foot towards Kashmir. Two accused, Junaid and Jabbar, both residents of Dhani Bhagta, were apprehended on the spot. FIR 33/2025 stands registered at Police Station Majalta. Further investigation in both cases is ongoing. |
