BLSKS organizes 3 day Baisakhi festival 2025 at Durga Bhawan

JAMMU, Apr 11: To Celebrate the Baisakhi Festival 2025 & to promote the traditional folk cultural of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) conducted workshop cum Cultural festival which is 486th Friday Series Musical Play "Rangila Duggar" in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Govt of India & Sangam Tru Art Production at Open air theatre , Durga Bhawan, Janipur, Jammu. During the festival , devotional cum cultural programs will be staged. The function was inaugurated with lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, J.K. Raina, Freelancer Producer Director and Dr. Anju Dogra from Health Department, J&K Government, Mukesh Singh, Media Person Jammu were the Guests of Honor. The programme commenced with song " Ayo Sab Mil ke Baisakhi Tayor Manye" , "Kanak Mandi Da tanga Chaliya", "Jammu Sada Dogre Da Shaar". Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest said Baisakhi, the agricultural festival of happiness and prosperity, is celebrated every year on 13 or 14 April. It's also known as Vaisakhi and is a significant festival for the Sikh community. Baisakhi marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year and commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Pamth elaborating the aims & objectives of BLsks which are primarily aimed at promotion of traditional folk culture of the JKUT i.e Pahari , Gojri ,Dogri, Bhaderwahi, Kashmiri etc., for which artistes have given their whole life to make traditional house-hold item. We endeavor to carry forward unfinished task in surviving the dying folk art of the region which is diminishing. We are engaged in mobilizing the youth for promotion of traditional folk through our NGO in generating awareness among the masses about various social evils through Musical Play / Theatre / Drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. "Rangila Duggar" musical play written, produced and directed by Dr.M.L.Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) & highlights the importance of the this festival. The music is composed by which will be concluded on 13th April 2025.
Welcoming the dignitaries Dr. M.L. Dogra, chairman BLSKS explained aims & objectives of the programme and said Baisakhi is celebrated with great pomp and extreme happiness, especially by the Sikhs. The Religious places are cleaned and decorated. Many people throng to the Gurdwaras to offer prayers and seek the blessings of the Almighty for the prosperous year ahead. Overall, the Baisakhi celebrations are carried out by all the People of India. Baisakhi is a Harvest festival and like all things Punjabi, it is one that involves the society, is colourful, boisterous and involves food, music and dance. Baisakhi is observed in other Indian states too. This festival showcases the rich religious traditions as well as the popular culture of the region among the millions of pilgrims who visit the Jammu Ghats during the month of April every year.. Sharing a special meal on this occasion is a way to commemorate the teachings and values of ideals, including equality, community service, and sharing.
M.C. Kotwal, General Secty. - BLSKS said Baisakhi is also known as the harvest festival and is considered auspicious especially for marriages. Rivers, canals and ponds are thronged by devotees who unfailingly take a ritual dip every year. The singers ,musician ,actors and students of Music and Computer institute who performed in the musical play were Usha Raina, Raju Bajgal, Zulekha Bano, Sant Dass, Mahesh Chander Kotwal, K K joshi, Bindia Okheda, Kuldeep Raj, Sanjeev Kumar Sodhi, Ayushman Sharma, Bhupinder, Karan Yadav, Ayush Kotra, Keshav, Rajveer Singh, Naiya Digra and many others presented the enthralled performance. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
