Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 11: Anand Jain, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed J&K, chaired a comprehensive meeting to review preparations for the Inter-Battalion and Inter-Zone Sports Meet 2025, scheduled to be held in Jammu from April 21 to April 30, 2025. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Inter-Battalion Meet will be held on April 21 and April 25, while those for the Inter-Zone Meet are slated for April 27 and April 30. Addressing the gathering, ADGP Jain emphasized the importance of these sporting events, which are an integral part of the J&K Police's Annual Sports Calendar. He said the competitions serve as a key platform to scout and nurture talented athletes from across police wings, eventually representing J&K Police at State and National levels through the Central Sports Team. The sports meet will feature a wide array of disciplines including Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tug of War, Athletics, Shooting, Badminton, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Swimming, Judo, Archery, Fencing, Taekwondo, Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, and more. Events will be held for both men and women, with participants drawn from Zones including Armed, SDRF/HG, Training, and INTELSECT (CID, Crime, Telecom, Traffic, Security, Railways, SSG). An estimated 1,500 to 2,000 players, including Gazetted Officers, are expected to take part in the competition. During the meeting, DySP Sports APHQ Sh. Kuldeep Hondoo delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the roles of various committees and sub-committees formed to oversee smooth execution of the event. Senior officers present included Sh. Vivek Gupta (IGP Railways), Sh. Suliman Choudhary (IGP Traffic/Tech Services), Ms. Sarah Rizvi (DIG IR Jammu), Ms. Rashmi Wazir (DIG Security J&K), Sh. Sandeep Wazir (AIG Personnel PHQ), Sh. Rajesh Kumar Sharma (SSP Security Jammu), Sh. Manoj Pandita (AIG Training/Communication), Dr. Minakshi Kotwal (Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital Jammu), and other battalion commanders from Jammu and Srinagar who joined via video conferencing. ADGP Jain reiterated that these events not only promote physical fitness but also instill discipline, sportsmanship, and team spirit among police personnel, fostering a robust sports culture in the force. |
