Early Times Report KATHUA, Apr 11: In a significant step towards a drug-free society, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua destroyed approximately 2,500 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances worth ?3.5 crore. The destruction took place at Anmol Healthcare in Rara, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh, Samba. The seized contraband included a wide variety of banned substances such as Charas, Poppy Straw, Dode, Opium, Heroin, Capsules, Corex, Injections, and Tablets. These items had been recovered in numerous NDPS cases registered across Kathua district and stored in police malkhanas. The disposal process was carried out through incineration, following proper legal and environmental protocols. A police team led by SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), supervised the destruction. He was joined by Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS), Senior Prosecuting Officer Sh. Munish Kumar, DySP Headquarters Sh. Ravinder Singh, DySP DAR Sh. Ritesh Sambyal, DySP CID Sh. Arvind Kumar, and a designated magistrate. SSP Kathua reiterated the police's commitment to the ongoing anti-drug campaign, assuring that all seized narcotics will continue to be destroyed in a transparent and lawful manner. This move is part of J&K Police's broader strategy to combat drug trafficking and ensure a safe and healthy society. |
