CGPWA Organizes Melodious Sangeet Sandhya | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 13: - On the eve of Baisakhi, the Central Govt Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) organised a Sangeet Sandhya at the jam-packed K L Sehgal auditorium. A group of thirteen budding artists of Jammu belonging to Bhartiya Sangeet Sansthan, presented a 90-minute entertaining musical bonanza that was a mix of Classic Music, Bollywood melodious oldies, Dogri and Punjabi folk. The group of artists comprised ten singers and five instrumentalists. These amateur artists are groomed by the celebrated Artist and member of the CGPWA, Vijay Kumar Sambyal, popularly known as Rangeelay Thakur at his ashram. The President of CGPWA, Kuldeep Khoda, former DGP & CVC presided over the function The Musical Evening commenced with Ganesha Stuti. The fifth class student Vanshika mesmerized the show by her stunning presentation. She sung two Bollywood songs- Ae dil tujhe kasam hai tu himmat nah arna of 1949 hit film Dulari and tum apna ranj-o- ghum-apni paraeshani mujhe de do of 1964 film shagoon, originally sung by Jagjit Kaur. While she won the hearts of everyone, Prem Gupta, former IGP could not resist announcing & presenting his personal cash award of Rs 2000/- as a token appreciation. Ridhima Bajpai and Kashish, two budding artists too captivated the audience of senior citizens by their songs. While Ridhima sung - pankh hote to ud aati,rasiya o zalima of 1963 hit film Sehra, sang by Lata Mangeshkar; Kashish beautifully presented - Prem ratan dhan payo, title song of 2015 film with same name. Both artists showed their impressive talent while singing these songs. One of the mesmerizing songs of seventies, associated with Bollywood’s veteran Manoj Kumar of film Purab aur Pachhim ( 1970 hit film), Hai Preet Jahan Ki Reet Sada Mai Geet Wahan Ke Gaata Hoon Bharat Ka Rehne Wala Hoon Bharat Ki Baat Sunata Hoon was the befitting finale of the musical evening. Originally sung by Mahendra Kapoor, it was presented by Krishna Purnam, a member of J&K police, as a tribute to one of the greatest Bollywood stars, Manoj Kumar who passed away recently. Other artists who presented their items included Udhay Singh Slathia, Shubham Banmotra, Nirmal Sufi ( also played harmonium), Ram Lal, Rakesh and Devangi Sharma. Prabhat Bali was on tabla, Prince Bhatti on keyboard & Jatin on octopod. Disha Bhagat conducted the program efficiently. Complimented the young amateur artists of Jammu for a wonderful presentation that left the audience mesmerized , Kuldeep Khoda said that these artists have a very promising career and would bring laurels to Jammu and their ‘Guru’ V K Sambyal who has left unturned in grooming them. He compared the soothing effect of the lyrics and music of these old songs on the minds of everyone with the present-day high-pitched music and lyrics, at times bordering vulgarity and said that oldies represented our cultural roots. On the occasion, he awarded all of them with cash prizes on behalf of the CGPWA as a token of appreciation. Among others present included the former Chief Secretary & State Election Commissioner, B R Sharma, former DGP, Dr Ashok Bhan, former DG & VC of IMPA Pramod Jain, Vice President CGPWA, Dr Sudharshan Kumar, General Secreatry, K B. Jandial, other office bearers-f B B Magotra, O,P Sharama & U K Pachananda, K L Sharma, J K Vaid, former PCCF, S D Swatantra, ,former IGPs Ashok Gupta, Ravinder Kotwal &Yoginder Koul, Vinod Raina President BALGRAN & V K Padha, former Ex Director NTPC. |
