Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Apr 13: In a significant move to combat the growing drug menace in the region, Rajouri Police has attached and seized property worth approximately ?35 lakhs from notorious drug peddler Jaswinder Kumar @Sonu, a resident of Ambedkar Chowk, Lamberi, Nowshera, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was carried out by a team from Police Station Nowshera, led by Station House Officer (SHO) under the direct supervision of SDPO Nowshera. Following a comprehensive inquiry, it was discovered that the seized assets, which included a residential house and a car, were acquired through the illegal profits from the narcotics trade.
Jaswinder Kumar, who has been a prime player in the illicit drug network of the area, has previously been arrested for his involvement in narcotics trafficking. In response to his ongoing criminal activities, Nowshera Police invoked Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, which allows for the attachment and seizure of properties linked to drug trafficking.
The property seizure is part of Rajouri Police's continued efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking and eliminate its detrimental impact on the community. The district police are adopting a zero-tolerance policy against the narcotics trade and are committed to ensuring that offenders face strict legal consequences.
Senior officials have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent actions against drug traffickers and have urged the community to support law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
This action reflects the police's determination to target the financial base of drug cartels and continue their fight against the drug trade, promoting a safer, drug-free environment for the citizens of Rajouri.
