Irrelevant separatism | | | The ground reality in Kashmir has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past few years, marking a significant departure from decades of turbulence and ideological confusion. One of the most striking symbols of this change is the growing irrelevance of the separatist parties like Hurriyat Conference. The Hurriyat today finds itself in complete disarray, with little to no influence left among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Hurriyat had over 40 operational offices in Rajbagh. Today, not even 40 active members of Hurriyat can be identified across the entire Valley - a telling indicator of the Centre's policy to deal with the separatism with an iron fist. This monumental shift is no accident. It is the direct result of the Centre's resolute and uncompromising policy on separatism, as pursued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Their clear message - that there will be no space for separatism in 'Naya Kashmir' - has been implemented with firmness and consistency. Gone are the days when separatist leaders could exploit democratic freedoms to peddle anti-national agendas while enjoying the perks of state hospitality. By withdrawing security and privileges, curbing illegal financial flows, and initiating legal action against those involved in subversive activities, the government has systematically dismantled the ecosystem that once nourished separatist politics. This has been done through a law-and-order-based approach that differentiates between those seeking peace and those pushing violence. The Centre's strategy "to nip separatism in the bud" has yielded the desired results. Public support for separatists has dwindled. The youth of Kashmir, once vulnerable to radicalization, are now increasingly focused on education, employment, and entrepreneurship. The government initiatives in infrastructure, tourism, digital connectivity, and grassroots development have created new opportunities that inspire hope and inclusion rather than alienation. Moreover, the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 acted as a political and psychological watershed. While critics feared unrest, the Centre's proactive security and communication strategies ensured peace and stability, thereby sending a strong message that the era of using constitutional ambiguity as a tool for division is over. The irrelevance of the Hurriyat Conference should be viewed as a testament to the resilience of democracy and the success of policies that prioritize national unity without compromising on regional aspirations. The people of Kashmir, long held hostage to the manipulations of separatist politics, are now actively engaging with the democratic process, development, and a future rooted in peace. Separatism is no longer a viable currency in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the strategic acumen of Home Minister Amit Shah, Kashmir is steadily integrating into the national mainstream - not by force, but by choice. The sun has indeed set on the age of separatism, and a new dawn of hope, harmony, and progress has arrived.
