Samba police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues four animals and seizes vehicle | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 24: In a continued crackdown on bovine smuggling in the region, Samba Police successfully foiled an attempt to transport cattle illegally and rescued four bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba. Acting on a tip-off from reliable sources, a police team from Police Post Supwal, under the supervision of Incharge PP Supwal, intercepted a Mahindra Load Carrier bearing registration number JK02CN-0704 near Barian. Upon inspection, the team discovered four bovines crammed into the vehicle in an inhumane manner, being transported without any valid documentation or permission. The animals were immediately rescued and the vehicle used in the smuggling attempt was seized on the spot. Police have registered a case under FIR No. 118/2025 at Police Station Samba under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act. An investigation into the incident is underway to trace the culprits and uncover the network behind the illegal activity. Samba Police reaffirmed its commitment to curbing such smuggling attempts and urged the public to report any suspicious movement or illegal transport of animals to the nearest police station. |
