AGENCIES
LUCKNOW, May 16: The Yogi government has taken a historic step towards empowering girls once again. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 80,000 girls from 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state will be trained in financial literacy and digital skills. This training will be available for free on the online 'Passport to Earning (P2E)' platform in collaboration with UNICEF, where the girls can also earn certificates.
Aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy-2020, this initiative will not only connect girls with practical education but also make them self-reliant. Girls will become proficient in essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy and financial decision-making.
Training to equip girls in the following areas:
*Making financial decisions, understanding savings and investments
*Loan management and identification of financial irregularities
*Using digital tools like Excel and PowerPoint
*Earning certificates through online platforms
Phased implementation across 746 KGBVs
The ambitious program will be implemented in phases. By May 20, each school will select a nodal teacher. Online orientation for these teachers will be held between May 24-25. By June 25, nodal teachers will complete their training on the platform, and by July 25, all girls will have their login credentials prepared. Following this, girls will complete the financial literacy course and receive certificates by September 10, with a consolidated report ready by September 15.
The digital literacy training will be completed by October 30, and its report will be prepared by November 10, 2025. UNICEF and Samagra Shiksha will provide technical support at every stage, while district coordinators and wardens will regularly monitor the program.
Training available online with videos, exercises, and assessments
The training program is accessible on the online platform up.my.p2e.org, featuring videos, exercises, and assessments. The financial literacy course consists of 12 chapters, and the digital skills course has 8 chapters. Each course lasts approximately 10 hours.
Accountability set; awards for outstanding performance
Accountability for the program rests with the school wardens and designated nodal teachers. District coordinators (girl education) and district basic education officers will regularly monitor the progress. Schools with the best performance will be honored at the district level.
"Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, our government is not only educating daughters but also making them digitally and financially capable, thereby making them self-reliant. Initiatives like 'Passport to Earning' will develop 21st-century skills in girls, enabling them to become confident and empowered women citizens of the future."
- Sandeep Singh, Basic Education Minister, Uttar Pradesh
