Justice for terror victims
7/11/2025 11:13:41 PM
Recently, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reiterated his resolve to ensure justice for terror victim families and warned that those responsible for their sufferings will be held accountable.
He stated that the government will deliver justice to real terror victims of Kashmir and spoke about how the SRO 43 was compromised in the past.
The Lieutenant Governor revealed that instead of those who were entitled for jobs, the killers were granted jobs under SRO-43. He issued a stern warning, saying, “Whoever misused the SRO-43, will face the action.”
LG Sinha assured the terror victim families that they will be provided jobs at their doorsteps. The Lieutenant Governor’s statement that “the killers were granted jobs under SRO-43” exposes a painful truth about how deeply politicization and appeasement may have corroded the administrative fabric in previous regimes. It is both shocking and disheartening to think that while innocent victims waited for solace and support, undeserving elements exploited the system—adding insult to injury for grieving families. The promise of strict action against those who misused the provision and benefitted through deceit should be swiftly acted upon through proper investigation and legal proceedings.
Moreover, the LG’s assurance that genuine victims will now receive jobs at their doorsteps is a welcome initiative. This is not just a gesture of compensation but a much-needed act of restorative justice. These families deserve not just empathy but opportunities for economic stability and dignity. By ensuring these appointments are expedited transparently and fairly, the government can not only heal long-festering wounds but also rebuild trust with the people.
This announcement also underlines the importance of overhauling verification mechanisms within welfare schemes like SRO-43. Robust checks, transparency in beneficiary selection, and timely grievance redressal are essential to ensure that such policies serve their intended purpose. The administration must also consider creating a digital public record (with appropriate privacy safeguards) to track SRO-43 appointments, allowing greater accountability and public oversight.
At a time when Kashmir is gradually moving towards normalcy and development, justice must become the cornerstone of governance. The wounds of terrorism can only begin to heal when the state stands firmly with the victims, not just in words but in action.
LG Manoj Sinha’s strong stance should now be backed by administrative diligence, legal action, and above all, a renewed commitment to truth and fairness.
In delivering justice to the terror-affected, the government is not merely fulfilling a policy obligation—it is restoring the soul of governance in Jammu and Kashmir. The people deserve nothing less.
