Jammu, July 11: Arrested with heroine worth Rs 70 lakh, the brother-sister duo of village Tanda of the border tehsil of R S Pura was running an international drug cartel under the directions of Pakistan-based narco-terrorist Tanveer Shah and Canada-based smuggler Joban Kaler.
On Wednesday, Miran Sahib Police in Jammu district arrested a real brother and sister, namely Gurjeet Singh, son of Avtar Singh, and Navneet Kour, daughter of Avtar Singh, resident of village Tanda of R S Pura. The heroine was worth Rs 70 lakh, which they were transporting in a scooty bearing JK02DA-9805, was recovered from their possession Rajinder Kour, mother of the arrested siblings, was arrested with top smugglers of the country when an international drug module was busted by the Punjab Police recently.
Eight persons, including four from Jammu namely , Rajeev Panjgotra alias Rajveer (29), Somnath (62), Prashotam Singh alias Kala, and Rajinder Kaur, 42 were arrested in this connection.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the drug cartel was being run with the help of local kingpin Gursahib Singh, who was already lodged in Goindwal Sahib Jail.

In a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF) and Rajasthan cops, a Punjab Police team busted an international drug cartel and seized heroin worth Rs 420 crores near Pakistan border in Barmer on June 30.
The operation carried out by Amritsar police commissionerate led to the arrest of at least nine persons, including smugglers, traffickers and hawala operators from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
Those arrested were identified as Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan (23), Jashanpreet Singh alias Jashan (20), Gursahib Singh (25), Kulwinder Singh, all from Amritsar, Rajeev Panjgotra alias Rajveer (29), Somnath (62), Prashotam Singh alias Kala, Rajinder Kaur, 42, all J&K residents, and a hawala operator.
