Early Times Report

Bandipora, July 14: A postal assistant posted at the Bandipora Post Office was arrested on Saturday after being caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a complainant, officials said. According to a spokesperson of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), a team conducted a raid at the post office following a complaint. It apprehended the accused while he was accepting the bribe amount.
The accused has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Najar, a resident of Rohama, Baramulla, currently working as a Postal Assistant in the Post Office Bandipora.
“The complainant had approached the ACB alleging that the official had demanded Rs. 6,500 for conducting physical verification of his business unit under the PMEGP scheme for subsidy disbursement. Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs.6,000 as part of the bribe,” the ACB said in a statement.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In a statement, ACB reiterated its commitment to act tough against corruption in public offices and urged people to report any such instances through the designated helpline and online complaint system.
