LG Sinha announces Rs 9 lakh relief for NOKs of Katra landslide victims

Katra, Aug 27: Terming the Katra landslide incident as “very unfortunate” that left many people dead, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that families of the deceased persons will be provided Rs 9 lakh as compensation.
Talking to the reporters here LG Sinha said, “According to the Shrine Board policy, Rs 5 lakhs are given, and the Disaster Management will also provide Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased.
I have spoken with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. The administration is fully engaged in relief and rescue operations with utmost promptness.”
“Katra landslide incident is very unfortunate.
Yesterday afternoon, the yatra was suspended due to a cloudburst, but due to a cloudburst near Ardhkuwari, many people were swept away in the water flow. Many precious lives were lost and many were injured,” he said, adding, “I have met with the injured; their condition is stable and they are being given proper treatment. The identities of several deceased have been established, and arrangements are being made to send their bodies home. “
