Amit Shah’s Reassurance
9/1/2025 10:20:51 PM
Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Jammu region assured the people that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government stands firmly with the flood hit people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He reassured the people that every possible assistance will be provided to them to rebuild their shattered homes and they need not to worry.
After chairing a high level meeting to review the recent flood situation in Jammu, Shah said that he has instructed the concerned department to restore the water supply and health departments have been asked to ensure that the healthcare needs of the people are taken care of.
Jammu and Kashmir’s unique geography makes it prone to natural disasters, unregulated urbanization, and encroachments on water bodies have amplified the risks. Each episode of flooding is a reminder that disaster preparedness must go hand in hand with development.
Building stronger embankments, restoring natural drainage systems, and investing in resilient infrastructure should become policy imperatives.
The government must also involve local communities in devising disaster management strategies, as people at the grassroots often have traditional knowledge that can complement modern technology.
Equally important is the need for timely compensation and transparent relief distribution. In the past, victims of natural calamities in the region have often complained of delays, red tape, and inequitable disbursal of aid. If the government’s commitment is to translate into tangible relief, bureaucratic hurdles must be minimized and accountability must be enforced at every level. The flood victims deserve not just promises but prompt and visible action.
Amit Shah’s assurance, therefore, should be seen as both a pledge of solidarity and a call for systemic reform.
The government has an opportunity to set a benchmark in disaster response and rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir—one that prioritizes human dignity, sustainability, and preparedness for the future.
The people of Jammu, battered but unbroken, are watching closely. What they need now is not just sympathy, but sustained action that helps them rebuild their lives with security and dignity.
The fury of nature has once again tested the resilience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Incessant rains and swelling rivers have left behind a trail of devastation—homes destroyed, roads washed away, livelihoods disrupted, and communities struggling to come to terms with their losses. Shah’s words of reassurance have offered a much-needed ray of hope to distressed families.
