Early times report

Jammu, Sept 1: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has announced the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu Division on September 2, 2025, following incessant rainfall and weather alerts. The order, issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director of School Education Jammu, comes in light of landslides triggered in hilly areas due to continuous downpours.
According to the directive, the decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff amid worsening weather conditions. The administration has also instructed that online classes be conducted wherever possible so that the academic schedule of students is not severely disrupted.
The order has been circulated to all Deputy Commissioners, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Joint Directors, Chief Education Officers, and other officials for necessary action and implementation.
Schools in the region were earlier advised to remain cautious due to heavy rainfall alerts, and with the situation persisting, the authorities have extended the closure. Parents and guardians have been urged to prioritize safety and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas prone to landslides.
With weather conditions still uncertain, further decisions regarding reopening will depend on official advisories. Meanwhile, education authorities have reiterated their commitment to minimizing academic loss through digital platforms until the situation improves.
